I want to get an JRSC, and i'm wondering if those who have it think it was worth it. Did you receive big HP and torque gains? I have a 1996 LS SE.

The gains are huge, it's very nice. I would think about two things with your SE though.
1 - Are you sure that you want to invest that much money into a car that in a year won't be worth much at all. Once the new Integra's come out, even the 3rd gen GS-R won't be worth as much, not to mention the LS and SE. You won't get your money out of the kit. If you do, make sure you plan on keeping your car for a long time. This of course makes no difference if you have tons of money to burn.
2 - A turbo kit on the car makes more power than the SC. You may find that if you do go FI, that a turbo is a better option on an SE, cause the SC kit on it, does make it faster, but not nearly as fast as the GS-R.

Lundgren,
You lost me there. What you saying is that a SC SE can't beat a stock GS-R?

come on! a gsr will not beat a sc ls/se/rs in stock form (or i/e/h)a gsr is not that much faster than a non-vtec..0-60 less than a second 1/4 mile less than a sec. So if i add +50 hp and +30 tq at the wheels with a sc in a car that is as light as a itr i will still lose to a gsr.. no way..at less than 2k rmp i will produce more tq than a gsr at peak!therefore the scls will pull hard!!!by the time the gsr gets to vtec the scls will be in second and pulling hard again.! the car will pull on a itr even with i/e/h...i think a sc on a non-vtec will surprise alot of people..the gearing is better on the non-vtecs (for FI) longer gears..more time accelerating less time shifting (that is why alot of 10-12 sec hondas use non-vtecs and non-vtec tranies!)I am sure there are a few ls/rs sc's out there. i would like to hear there oppinions!

the rs is the underdog of the teg line. But even the underdog ... wins...

Bryan,
I've been looking into the SC for quite a while. I hear many great things about it but perhaps even more helpful is what's not so great. Could you tell me why it's not such a great idea. I would buy it ONLY if I could have it installed and forget it. I'm not mechanically inclined so maintenance & fine tuning will likely cost me bigtime. I just want the power without having to be a mechanic. Does it require a lot of fiddling to keep it running? By the way, I have a '95 GSR.
Thanks for any input

I have the JRSC LS. I have said this once and I'll say it again : I like it a lot. It's definitely better bang for the buck compared to the all-motor route.
I think lundgren is saying that the LS kit does not give as great an output as the GSR kit. I agree. That's just a fact. LS starts out with a lower hp output from the box and it's natural for it to come out with less hp output after FI with the same 6psi. Not to mention the LS uses a smaller blower too.

You can go higher boost more safely in an LS S.charged car too, compression is the key here...so if you get one, get the 8 pound pulley right off the bat!

Ok a few points.. Poorly designed for one, let me see.. k look at the manifold the runners are how long? 1" long? bah not even long enough.. Oscar Jackson? the d00d who talks out loud about how he fucks customers to people he doesn't even know well. 2$ sensors, comes with nothing to prevent dentenation, would be the J&S, but since they didn't want to put his name/logo on it they no longer even try and mention it to people. Nothing really to protect you from dentenating other than them telling you to back the timing to 8 degree's or whatever it might be for a LS, There is a large number of reasons why not to get it, only one reason to get it, it increases horsepower(as any idiot can do by forcing 6 psi into a car), but point being it could have been done in a much better fashion and designed as a whole much better, IE: NOT WORTH THE MONEY, NO WAY -- NO HOW -- NOT EVEN. If your not looking to do a whole lot to your car than I suggest spending 500-600$ on a nitrous kit -- 70 shot. You will probably see the same gains if not better gains from it. It can do nice things if done properly, spend the rest on fuel management, other engine components, and even suspension or just save up a little more for a turbo and see much better gains at 6 psi and get much more for your dollar.

NOS is cheap hp, but really, it's only good if you want to go fast at the track, and from time to time on the street. Your not really making the car a better car. You cannot use it all the time. If you do, you'll pay for your JRSC kit in a year.
What is the point to say, look ma, I ran a 13.5, only to take the car back to the street and get beat by a civic si, cause you didn't have the bottle turned on.
If you only want a part time fast car, NOS is good, but if you want a daily drivable, always fast, get the SC or a turbo.
